WHO WE ARE

Celebrating 30 Years!

We Are

House of New Hope is a statewide Christian 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable agency. Our evidence-based and trauma-competent foster care and adoption services are joined by behavioral health and developmental disability waiver services designed to assist at-risk and vulnerable persons across the entire life span who need specialized support to lead successful, meaningful lives.

As a provider of foster caring services, community mental health services, developmental disability waiver services, and adoption services, we are nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF); licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services; and certified by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities and the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

We Believe

  • God is vested, deeply and personally, in the plight of the "orphan" and in all who are defenseless and less fortunate.
We believe God calls his people to join Him in this, sharing His passion by providing treatment, restoration, and empowerment of children, youth, adults, and families.
  • We believe in the effective integration of Christian faith and professional practice in all agency services.
  • We believe that our ministry of providing services in a manner that gives glory and honor to God while also demonstrating respect for religious and cultural diversity is a calling to serve His cause.
  • We believe that each person has a right to safety, permanency, and well-being through enhancement of his/her social, physical, educational, and spiritual needs.
  • We believe that every person has a right to e treated with dignity, respect, equality, and compassion.

Our Story

While ministering to children and families throughout central and southern Ohio as pastors of River of Life Church in Carroll, Ohio, Ed and Shirley Sharp answered a calling to provide specialized foster care to troubled children and youth who had been removed from their parents due to abuse and neglect. In 1992, after many years as foster caregivers and an equal amount of prayer, the Sharp's made their decision to start a foster care agency that would provide every child an opportunity for spiritual growth in conjunction with the compassionate professional support necessary to heal deep emotional and physical wounds.
