Program Facts

What is Community-based Respite Care?

Respite Care is temporary relief provided to primary caregivers to reduce stress, support family  stability, prevent abuse and neglect, and minimize or eliminate the need for out-of-home placement.

Who Needs Community-based Respite Care?

Any family having a child/adolescent  who has special needs as the result of emotional, behavioral, social or psychiatric problems may be considered for community respite care services.

Who are our Community-based Respite Care Providers?

Our respite providers undergo an extensive background check, and receive training that exceeds the state respite provider requirements. In fact, many of our respite providers meet the state requirements for treatment foster caregivers.

All of our respite providers are certified in CPR, first aid, and receive regular training in behavior management, de-escalation skills, cultural sensitivity, MR/DD, effects of separation, abuse and neglect, and mental health issues.

How to Get Started:

If you or someone you care about would benefit from community respite care     services call us at 614.863.5555.

Children and adolescents receiving services through a community mental health center, a county MR/DD program, or public children services agency may be able to access public funding.
