WHAT IS HOUSE OF NEW HOPE'S EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES?
House of New Hope has been serving individuals with developmental disabilities for over two decades... starting with children and youth, and finally adding adult services over ten years ago. We have experience serving individuals that are coping with behavior challenges, mental health challenges, as well those needing total around-the-clock care.
What training does House of New Hope staff have?
House of New Hope direct service and program management staff meet and/or exceed the requirements set forth by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. This includes required training in Medicaid waiver services, MUI's, Client's Rights, certifications in CPR and First Aid, and training specific to an individual's disability. Direct service staff also receive person-specific training on the individual's ISP, Behavior Support Plan and Medication Administration when applicable.
As the parent of an adult child with developmental disabilities what are my options if I'm not satisfied with my current provider?
Ohio rules gives you the right to provide the services to your adult child and receive compensation for your efforts. House of New Hope contracts with parents who wish to provide services to their adult child in order to support them through billing, training, and consultation.
What is your plan for coverage when staff call off work?
House of New Hope uses a flexible and client-specific staffing model comprised of both full- and part-time direct service caregivers; allowing for adjustments in coverage as the circumstances dictate. Additionally, there is a well-trained Team Leader that oversees the provision of all services to the individual and is ultimately responsible for ensuring coverage in the event that a staff calls off work.
Do you involve individuals in the community?
House of New Hope supports people with disabilities to create and/or maintain a community presence and participation through outings of interest, shopping, and recreation. We also work with the person to find and cultivate new community interests.
What is your agency's view of persons with developmental disabilities?
We strongly believe that individual's with developmental disabilities are just that... individual's with a disability. Other than having certain challenges, they are absolutely no different than you or I. they have the same rights and responsibilities as anyone of us. They are entitled to self-determination or, at least, a voice in directing their lives.
