This year’s party was held Saturday evening in the banquet center of House of New Hope in St. Louisville. There were stations set up where children could decorate cookies. Face painting and other crafts also were available.
For Dr. Jeffrey Greene, the organization’s executive director, the Christmas party is special because he gets to see the smiling faces of foster children who are being helped by the organization... many of whom may have never enjoyed a fun and safe Christmas before.
“This is the evening where we come together and we give Christmas to Ohio’s children who have been removed from their parents because of neglect or abuse,” Greene said.
Debbie Sherrick, has been a House of New Hope treatment foster parent for over 23 years. She said that over the years, she always loves bringing her many foster children to this Christmas Party every year and hopes to attend forever.
By the time that our Christmas for Kids 2015 Party came to an end Saturday night, more than 250 children and families had enjoyed many fun activities, a delicious ham and turkey dinner, and topped off with a visit from Santa... straight from the North Pole... who delivered gifts to every child in attendance. For so many of these children, this was their first Christmas Party ever and their excitement was overflowing.
A special thanks to Todd Londot and the Londot Family for sponsoring this event for 8 years in a row, Crispin Iron and Metal, RDot, Logistics, as well as the Denison University Basketball Team for assisting in the cleanup activities.
