BECOME A CARGIVER

How you can help

Every adult or child being served by House of New Hope has a story to tell. For our foster children it is a story of abuse or neglect. For our adults with developmental disabilities it is a story whose theme is their daily struggle with independence and self-reliance.

Thankfully, it’s a story that is not yet complete. With God’s help and yours, there are chapters ahead just brimming with happiness… sense of purpose... hope. Let us provide you with the information, training and support you will need to be a successful caregiver.

Become a Treatment Foster Parent

Providing treatment foster care services to traumatized children with special needs is a commitment that can be extremely challenging... but extremely rewarding. Most of the children in our program have been subjected to physical and/or sexual abuse as well as neglect, domestic violence, drugs, alcohol or other traumatic life experiences. Many of them have never experienced unconditional love, praise, or nurturing. Many of them have never felt safe. Many of them have never been given a "voice" to express their deep fears and hurt. The time they spend in your home may be their first exposure to a loving, accepting family whose members nurture and care for each other.

The challenges make the rewards that much more delicious. We train you and we pay you for your training time.

Become an Adult Foster Care Provider

Adult Foster Parents provide personal care, protection, and supervision to adults with developmentally disabilities who cannot live alone. Adult Foster Care can meet the needs of adults who require periodic or regular assistance with activities of daily living, but do not require nursing services. Examples of "activities of daily living" include: dressing, bathing, eating, brushing teeth, or combing hair.

Developmentally disabled adults who are seeking Adult Foster Care services are folks desiring to feel part of a family, usually require minimal to moderate support to maintain or improve their level of independence and community involvement, and often want the same sorts of things out of life that you do.
