Mike and Pam's Story

After a few years of infertility and treatments,
Mike and Pam made the decision to grow their family through
adoption. After doing a fair amount of research on adoption
agencies, they chose an agency in their hometown that had a
good reputation. After completing the homestudy and all other
necessary requirements, their materials were shared with an
Ohio birth mother that had recently made the selfless decision
to surrender her baby for adoption at birth. Following a
matching conference, the birth mother selected Mike and Pam as
the adoptive parents. Due to the fact that they and their
adoption agency lived in a different state than the birth
mother, House of New Hope was hired to provide all the
necessary pre- and post-finalization activities. Seventy-two
hours after the birth of little Michelle, Mike, Pam and baby
were on their way back to their state to start this phase of
their life together. Our licensed and experienced adoption
specialist made the process a pleasant and relatively
stress-free experience for both the birth mother and the
adoptive parents. |

Pre-Arranged/Targeted Adoption
House of New Hope is available to assist adopting couples, obstetricians, attorneys or
others with the placement of a child in a pre-arranged adoption circumstance. In these
instances, a source other than House of New Hope may find a birth parent wishing to place with
a particular adopting couple who may or may not be currently adopting through House of New
Hope. It may be necessary to involve House of New Hope due to interstate or jurisdictional
problems, as a way of maintaining a relationship with birth parents, or simply as a resource to
provide birth parent services, counseling, home study and post-placement services.
Home Study/Post-Adoption
Services
A home study can loosely be defined as an educational process designed to help our Ohio
certified adoption assessor learn more about your ability to parent and provide a stable home,
to teach you about adoption and its affect on children and families, and to prepare you to
parent a child whose experiences and history are very different from your own. Everyone who
hopes to adopt must have a completed home study.
After adoptions are finalized, some families find they need additional support to help
children succeed in their home and to help their children transition through some life
challenges. House of New Hope provides post-adoption services that are tailor-made to your
family’s specific needs.
In either case, House of New Hope’s licensed or state certified assessors are available to
provide expert Homestudy or Post-Adoption Services to you and your family.
